The team behind Barcelona’s Sagrada Família, a modernist basilica designed by renowned architect Antoni Gaudi, is hoping to complete the structure within ten years, more than a century after the architect’s passing.
Esteve Camps, the project’s chairman, told reporters Thursday that he had learnt to exercise caution after the COVID outbreak caused visitor revenues for one of Europe’s most popular tourist destinations to plummet and postponed the project’s completion past its 2026 target.
“We are unable to predict if it will be 10, 11, or 12 years. However, we believe that if everything goes according to plan and there are no problems, we should be done in ten years.”
