The lawsuit, which is scheduled to be filed in the High Court on Thursday, claims that Uber illegally stole business from other drivers in 2012 by obtaining a license from Transport for London in an inappropriate manner.
RGL Management, the legal claims management organization that represents the 10,500 black taxi drivers, estimates the worth of the claim at at least £250 million, with each driver perhaps eligible for compensation of up to £25,000.
All London black taxi drivers, including those who have subsequently retired, who were employed full- or part-time between June 2012 and mid-March 2018 are eligible to join.
“Uber appears to think it is above the law, and as a result, drivers in London have lost money,” 36-year black taxi driver Garry White stated in a statement. “It’s time they answered for their actions.”
