"I wouldn’t be where I am today without the gigs I played around the North East and beyond when I was starting out," Styles said. "These venues are legendary, but they are struggling." The Music Venue Trust praised Styles’ contribution, noting that even a £1 levy per ticket can provide long-term support for the live music ecosystem. Culture Minister Ian Murray has expressed support for the initiative, aiming for at least 50% of stadium and arena tickets in 2026 to adopt a similar levy. Levy Impact and Future Plans Although no funds have been distributed yet, the first phase of funding will soon be announced. Beneficiaries will include venues, artists, and independent promoters. Last year, 8.8% of tickets for UK arena and stadium shows included a version of this "grassroots levy," which continues to grow in popularity.
