Rashid Mahmood Langrial, the chairman of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), has denied allegations that the national government lost Rs100 billion as a result of Karachi’s faceless customs processing system.
He claimed that the internal audit’s conclusions were deceptive and that some officials and stakeholders were conspiring to weaken the anti-corruption mechanism.
The chairman of the FBR supports the faceless customs system.
Chairman Langrial explained that the internal audit report from the Customs Department was based on inaccurate data and was leaked before it was received by the FBR. According to him, those who were dissatisfied with the new system allegedly planned the report as part of a purposeful negative campaign against reforms.
