The Federal Board of Revenue has refuted social media rumors that suggest smuggled cars, commonly referred to as non-custom paid (NCP) cars, will be eligible for amnesty.
The FBR called the rumors that an amnesty program is being discussed for the regularization of smuggled automobiles “baseless” in a statement released on Tuesday.
The FBR emphasized, “There are no proposals regarding the regularization of smuggled vehicles under consideration at the FBR.”
The tax office advised the public not to trust this kind of “unfounded” news that was making the rounds on social media.
Earlier this year, during a series of information-based operations from July to December 2023, the Directorate of Customs Intelligence confiscated a range of illicit products, valued collectively at over Rs6 billion.
