Jury selection for Hunter Biden’s federal gun crime trial began on Monday in Delaware, setting off events that will undoubtedly capture the public’s interest in the coming days and weeks.

Hunter faces charges of one count of lying during the purchase of a firearm, one count of lying about information that a licensed firearm dealer is required to keep, and one count of having a firearm in the possession of someone who is addicted to or illegally uses a controlled substance.
The maximum term he might receive on all charges is 25 years in prison. In addition, there is a $250,000 maximum punishment and a three-year supervised release period for each count.

According to an indictment, Hunter Biden purchased a Colt revolver on October 12, 2018, and “knowingly made a false and fictitious written statement, intended and likely to deceive that dealer with respect to a fact material to the lawfulness of the sale of the firearm… certifying he was not an unlawful user of, and addicted to, any stimulant, narcotic drug, or any other controlled substance, when in fact, as he knew, that statement was false and fictitious.”
