BANSKA BYSTRICA: Following his survival of an attempted assassination on Wednesday, deputy prime minister and environment minister Tomas Taraba of Slovakia stated that Prime Minister Robert Fico’s condition has stabilized and he is no longer in “life-threatening condition”.
“Fortunately as far as I know the operation went well […] and I guess in the end he will survive […] he’s not in a life-threatening situation at this moment,” Taraba stated to the News.
Fico, 59, was shot five times as he was leaving a government conference the day before, and although he survived the attempt on his life, he was left critically ill and required surgery.
One bullet passed through Fico’s stomach, while another struck a joint, according to the Deputy PM.
