Following an Israeli raid on Qatar last month, the White House announced that it will consider “any armed attack” on Qatari territory as a danger to Washington and will offer the Gulf Arab state security guarantees.
“It is the policy of the United States to guarantee the security and territorial integrity of the State of Qatar against external attack, given the ongoing threats to the State of Qatar posed by foreign aggression,” stated an Executive Order signed by US President Donald Trump.
Should Qatar be attacked, the United States will “take all lawful and appropriate measures — including diplomatic, economic, and, if necessary, enforcement actions.”
