Following the refusal of the Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is considering building a coalition government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with the support of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) president Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman, according to Geo News, citing sources.
According to sources, the JUI-F held seats in the KP Assembly. According to PTI sources, Maulana and the PTI agree on electoral reservations.
They stated that Imran Khan’s message was relayed to Fazl during a meeting with the JUI-F the day before. On this occasion, the PTI asked the JUI-F to vote for the prime minister’s candidate, Omar Ayub.
On February 14, the JI ruled out forming an alliance with the PTI to create a provincial administration.
In an interview with Geo News, JI Central Naib Amir Liaqat Baloch stated that his party had opted not to join forces with the PTI since the latter had established a coalition with another federal party.
“There is no reason for us to form an alliance with the PTI only in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,” Baloch said, adding that talks with the PTI involved both the federal and provincial governments.
Meanwhile, the PTI and JUI-F have allegedly decided to continue negotiations about forming an alliance. According to insiders, a committee will be formed to facilitate negotiations between the parties. The board would conclude recommendations on election tampering and next course of action, they said.
According to sources, the PTI delegation informed Fazl about the situation with Form 45 across the country. Fazl expressed concerns about the manipulation of the PTI’s mandate, they said.
“The PTI delegation praised Maulana Fazl’s words and news conferences. “The PTI delegation and the JUI-F agreed to fight together inside and outside of parliament,” they stated.
They stated that the leaders of both parties would meet soon to finalise the proposals.
