The National Food Security Ministry has made the decision to cease importing sugar.
After examining the nation’s sugar reserves, officials stated, the decision was made. There is no need for more imports because there are sufficient indigenous sugar supplies. The Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) will no longer import sugar, the government has determined.
Imports of sugar by the federal government will be restricted to 300,000 metric tons under current contracts, for which orders have already been placed. As a result, TCP has received instructions.
