According to the flotilla organizers, a drone hit one of the ships headed for Gaza that were transporting pro-Palestinian activists including Greta Thunberg and aid.
All six passengers and crew members were safe following the incident outside the Tunisian port of Sidi Bou Said, according to Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF), which shared footage on Instagram that seemed to show the Portuguese-flagged vessel being struck by an object.
Reuters cited Tunisian officials who stated that rumors that a drone was involved “had no basis in truth” and that preliminary examination showed the explosion started within the ship.
Arriving in Tunisia on Sunday, the humanitarian assistance flotilla sailed from Barcelona last week.
