Zartaj Gul, the leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), was denied permission to travel on Saturday by the Islamabad High Court (IHC), which ruled that there was neither moral or legal basis for the ban.
When the PTI leader’s plea to have her name taken off the no-fly list was being heard, the high court made these statements.
On the plea, Zartaj requested that her name be taken off the Exit Control List (ECL) so that she might go to Saudi Arabia and do the Hajj. IHC Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri granted this request in writing.
In its ruling, the IHC directed the interior secretary to choose a senior legal expert to support the court, and the designated official needed to be informed of the case’s specifics.
The high court went on to say that the petitioner was facing several cases that were filed against her during the May 9 “protest,” as per the lawyer. The court declared that she had obtained bail and was neither fleeing nor wanted in any case.
The interior secretary has been served with a notice by the court requesting a response from the official.
