The business community and Zaireen (pilgrims) will find it easier to cross the border between Pakistan and Iran, according to Muhammad Mudassir Tipu, Pakistan’s ambassador to Iran.
The ambassador posted on his official X handle on Saturday, saying, “Absolutely delighted to share that immigration facilities at Taftan & Gabd border have been substantially beefed up to facilitate Zaireen, business community & promote bilateral trade.”
“At this point, roughly 4,000–6,000 passengers can pass through both points each day,” he stated, expressing optimism that relations between the two nearby nations are improving.
‘Enhanced’ immigration facilities at the Pakistan-Iran border to strengthen ties
In an effort to strengthen bilateral relations, the Pakistani ambassador declared last month that the two nations had decided to keep the Taftan-Gabd border open around the clock.
In April of this year, after the visit of late Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi to Pakistan, the two nations decided to change the common border between their two governments from a “border of peace” to a “border of prosperity.” The significance of collaboration in the energy sector, encompassing electricity commerce, power transmission lines, and the Iran-Pakistan gas pipeline project, was emphasized once more.
Additionally, all parties emphasized how important it is to have a collaborative regional economic and connectivity model and long-term, durable economic collaboration, especially for the socioeconomic development of Pakistan’s Balochistan and Iran’s Sistan-Balochistan.
