At the Wright Brothers National Memorial in the Outer Banks of North Carolina, the airplane fell down on Saturday at around five o’clock in the evening, local time.
According to eyewitnesses cited by the US National Park Service, the jet crashed while attempting to land at First Flight Airport.
According to the service, the plane caught fire following the collision and was put out by the Kill Devil Hills Fire Department along with many other nearby fire departments.
The memorial is closed on Sunday, and the airport is closed till further notice.
The Federal Aviation Administration has also been notified of the event, and the National Transportation Safety Board will look into it.
The Outer Banks are a group of barrier islands and spits on the US east coast that are located off the coasts of Southeast Virginia and North Carolina.
Orville and Wilbur Wright designed, built, and piloted the first successful airplane in history.
In December 1903, they used the Wright Flyer to conduct the first controlled, continuous flight of an engine-powered, heavier-than-air aircraft, landing close to the Kill Devil Hills memorial.
