The controversy surrounding the Asia Cup has intensified after it was claimed that Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav told the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) that, should India win, he would not collect the tournament trophy from Mohsin Naqvi, the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
Indian media sources state that Yadav expressed his disapproval of Mohsin Naqvi’s attendance at the award ceremony, describing it as “unacceptable.” After the recent handshake incident during the Asia Cup match between India and Pakistan, the situation has gotten worse.
Conflicts between the PCB and the International Cricket Council (ICC) have cast a shadow over the competition. The event on Sunday, in which players from both teams refrained from shaking hands, provoked intense condemnation and increased hostilities between the two cricket bodies.
