“Through the diplomatic channels of a friendly European country, we have confirmed that former senator Mushtaq Ahmad is in the custody of the Israeli occupying forces and is safe and in good health,” according to the news release released by the FO.
It further stated that Pakistani officials have been informed that the former senator will appear in court and that his repatriation will be expedited upon the issuing of deportation orders.
The ministry’s comments follow the former lawmaker’s arrest by Israeli soldiers on October 2 while participating in the Global Sumud Flotilla, a group of several ships transporting humanitarian aid to the war-torn region now under Israeli embargo.
The former senator was in charge of a delegation from Pakistan consisting of five people.
