Monsoon rain is predicted to arrive tonight (Monday), providing much-needed relief as Karachi endures yet another scorching, according to a report by Geo News on Sunday that cited a private meteorological agency.
According to the Met Office, a powerful system of monsoon winds is expected to bring heavy to moderate downpours to Karachi. Thunder and lightning can accompany the rains.
Additionally, a private meteorological agency said that Gujarat, a coastline state in central India, was being approached by a low-pressure system. It is expected that this system will bring showers to Umarkot, Mithi, Tharparkar, and other places in Sindh.
In the meantime, Karachi is expected to get consistent rain through Tuesday night.The weather service said that isolated periods of heavy to moderate showers might bring up to 10 millimeters—or perhaps 30 to 50 millimeters—of rain to the city by Thursday, August 1.
The National Disaster Management Authority issued a warning on Monday about urban floods in Karachi and other cities nationwide till August 3 as the country continues to experience monsoon rainfall.
