Launched in November 2024 as part of the Chief Minister’s Skilled Punjab Initiative, the Pehchan program has provided vocational training to more over 1,000 transgender people.
The Punjab Skills Development Fund (PSDF) reports that 1,054 people received training in a variety of subjects, such as digital freelancing, performing arts, culinary arts, beauty and grooming, information technology, and handicrafts.
Over 980 of those who received training have found work with reputable companies, while others have started small enterprises in places like Lahore, Multan, Faisalabad, Bahawalpur, and Gujranwala.
In addition to technical training, the program—which is offered in partnership with more than 18 training providers—offers stipends, travel reimbursements, professional toolkits, and assistance with official documents.
