Obama Clarifies Viral Podcast Comments
Former President Barack Obama clarified that he found no proof of extraterrestrial life while in office, after a lighthearted podcast exchange sparked widespread online reaction.
Obama made the original remarks during an interview with podcaster Brian Tyler Cohen. The conversation included a rapid fire question segment that quickly gained attention.
When Cohen asked whether aliens are real, Obama replied in a playful tone that they are real but said he had not seen them. He also joked that they were not being hidden at Area 51 and dismissed the idea of a secret underground base kept from the president.
Speed Round Humor Sparks Online Buzz
The exchange continued with Cohen asking what question Obama most wanted answered when he first took office in 2008. Laughing, Obama responded that he wanted to know where the aliens were.
Over the weekend, clips of the exchange circulated widely on social media. As a result, some viewers took the comments seriously.
To clear up confusion, Obama later posted a clarification. He explained that he answered in the spirit of the speed round and meant the comments as humor.
Obama’s Official Clarification
In his follow up remarks, Obama said the universe is vast and that statistically there could be life somewhere beyond Earth. However, he stressed that the enormous distances between solar systems make it unlikely that extraterrestrials have visited us.
More importantly, he stated clearly that during his presidency he saw no evidence that aliens had contacted Earth.
Conspiracy theories have long claimed that the US government hides alien life at a classified Air Force base in southern Nevada. Still, no verified proof supports those claims.
Obama’s clarification aimed to settle speculation while keeping the conversation grounded in science rather than rumor.
