4 to 13,Pakistan has dismissed recent Indian media reports suggesting that Hindus were denied entry to attend the birth anniversary of Baba Guru Nanak Dev Ji from November 4-13, calling the claims “baseless” and misleading.
Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Hussain Andrabi clarified that the issue was purely administrative and had no religious basis. He said the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi had issued more than 2,400 visas for Sikh pilgrims, with 1,932 successfully entering Pakistan via the Attari-Wagah border on November 4.
Andrabi explained that around 300 visa holders could not cross due to restrictions imposed by Indian authorities. Additionally, a few individuals were turned away on the Pakistani side because of incomplete documentation, following standard immigration rules.
He emphasized that attempts to frame the matter as religious or political are incorrect. Pakistan continues to welcome pilgrims of all faiths through an organized and facilitative system.
has remainedThis comes shortly after dozens of Sikh pilgrims crossed the border for the first major visit since deadly clashes in May, which led to a temporary closure of the Wagah-Attari border. The Kartarpur Corridor, which allows Indian Sikhs visa-free access, remains closed since the conflict.
Tensions between Pakistan and India remain high following the May clashes, which were described as the worst since 1999.
