In Islamabad, where a schoolgirl received the nation’s first cervical cancer vaccine, the Pakistani government formally inaugurated the HPV vaccination campaign.
The program’s goal is to shield young girls from cervical cancer, which is one of the main causes of cancer-related deaths among women globally.
What is cervical cancer?
The cells of the cervix, the lower portion of the uterus that joins the vagina, are where cervical cancer begins to grow. The majority of the time, it is brought on by a chronic infection with high-risk HPV strains.
Although this cancer usually grows slowly, it can spread to other parts of the body if it is not discovered. Abnormal bleeding, pelvic pain, or pain during sexual activity are common symptoms.
