Ammara Sharif and Dr. Sana Jamil, two Pakistani women, are poised to make history as the first to ascend the challenging West Muztagh La Pass, which stands at a towering 5750 meters above sea level.

Setting out on a twelve-day journey full with difficulties, the daring climbers endured extremely low temperatures—as low as -20 degrees Celsius—as well as hazardous icy landscapes and harsh weather.

On June 4th at 10 a.m., they beat the odds and reached the summit, which was a major turning point in Pakistan’s mountaineering history.

Located inside the magnificent Karakoram range, the Muztagh Pass provides access to the breathtaking Baltoro Muztagh subrange, which is home to the famous K2, the second-highest peak in the world.

The difficult trek over the pass, which is the quickest path from Yarkand to Skardu in Baltistan via the upper Indus River, calls for extraordinary stamina and mental toughness.

The successful climb by Sharif and Jamil highlights the incredible perseverance of Pakistani women as well as their significant contribution to the adventure sports industry.

On this momentous journey, Sharif and Jamil were accompanied by their fellow citizens:

Abdulrahman Muhammad
Hanzala, Dr. Raheel Iftikhar Sheikh Junaid Roy
