KARACHI: Noor Zaman of Pakistan defeated third seed Yahya Elnawasany of Egypt in straight games to go to the Charlottesville Open semifinals.
In their quarterfinal matchup on Thursday, the eighth-seeded Zaman defeated Elnawasany 11-9, 11-9, 11-9 in just 35 minutes.
In the semifinals, the 21-year-old Pakistani will now take on Timothy Brownell, the top seed from the United States. In 41 minutes, Brownell defeated Veer Chotrani of India 3-1 (11-6, 9-11, 11-1, 11-6) to advance to the round of four.
In other quarterfinal results, Egypt’s Salman Khalil defeated India’s fourth seed Velavan Senthilkumar 3-1 (12-10, 9-11, 11-8, 11-3) and England’s Sam Todd defeated Argentina’s Leandro Romiglio 3-0 (11-8, 11-8, 11-8).
