Tuesday’s flights using Iranian airspace were banned by Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) in response to Iran’s ballistic missile launches against Israel.
The national flag carrier announced the decision and sent instructions to all captains and flight operations.
Flight plans are being changed to avoid Iranian airspace until the situation “becomes clearer,” according to a spokeswoman.
According to the spokesman, the PIA runs two lanes across Iranian airspace: the southern corridor serves flights to the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Doha, and Saudi Arabia, and the northern corridor is used for flights to Canada and Turkey.
Iran retaliated over Israel’s activities against its Hezbollah partners in Lebanon by launching a volley of ballistic missiles at the Israeli state.
Israel was rocked by the sound of air raid sirens and reports of explosions.
