Severe Weather Forces Sudden Lineup Changes
Festival goers at Primavera Sound in Barcelona faced major disappointment after several headline performances were cancelled because of dangerous weather conditions. Strong winds reaching up to 80 kilometers per hour along with heavy rain triggered safety concerns across the venue.
Organisers confirmed that performances from Massive Attack, Doja Cat, and Bad Gyal were called off shortly before they were due to appear. Earlier in the day, sets by Alex G and Mac DeMarco were also cancelled as the weather warning escalated.
The team behind the festival explained that safety for both artists and audiences remained the top priority. Despite efforts to continue with the schedule, conditions made it impossible to proceed with the late night shows.
Fans Report Confusion and Poor Communication
Many attendees said the biggest issue was not only the cancellations but also the lack of clear updates during the event.
One festival goer from London described arriving with little understanding of what was happening inside the venue. He said rumours spread quickly and most updates came through social media rather than official announcements. He also learned about one cancellation only after seeing an artist post a live update online.
Attendees reported receiving vague notifications on the festival app without clear explanations. This created confusion and left many unsure about whether performances were delayed or fully cancelled.
Long Waits in Heavy Rain Add to Frustration
Some fans said they waited for hours in difficult weather conditions without seeing any performances. One attendee described standing in the rain for most of the evening with no access to live music, which added to the frustration.
Others said they were surprised that there appeared to be no backup plan for the weather conditions. Compared to other festivals they had attended, they expected clearer communication and alternative arrangements.
Organisers Respond and Confirm Refunds
Festival organisers later issued a statement acknowledging the frustration and disappointment among attendees. They explained that they had worked closely with artist teams to try to keep performances on schedule, but conditions made it unsafe to continue.
They also confirmed that no serious incidents occurred during the event and that all safety procedures were followed.
Tickets for the affected day will be refunded, with details expected to be shared soon after the event.
Festival Continues With Remaining Lineup
Despite the disruption, the festival is set to continue with its remaining schedule. The next day includes performances from major acts such as The Cure, Addison Rae, and PinkPantheress, with organisers hoping to restore the event atmosphere.
