The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has submitted a motion to the National Assembly Secretariat calling for the release of Imran Khan, the party’s founder, as well as many other political figures and journalists.
Omar Ayub, Asad Qaiser, and other PTI leaders submitted the motion to the assembly secretary.
The resolution particularly calls for Imran Khan’s immediate release, underlining his status as a significant Muslim leader. It condemns the misuse of the law and demands an immediate end to what it considers political mistreatment.
The resolution also calls for the release of other political figures, including Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Dr. Yasmin Rashid, Parvez Elahi, and Umar Sarfaraz Cheema, among others.
It extends its demand to additional party leaders, including Sanam Javed, Ejaz Chaudhry, and Mahmoodur Rasheed, claiming that their trials are likewise politically driven.
The resolution claims that the judicial cases against the PTI founder are illegal and politically motivated, with no legal standing. It claims that such political reprisals are detrimental to the country and its people.
Furthermore, the resolution calls for the speedy conclusion of cases involving journalists such as Imran Riaz Khan and Asad Toor, echoing the sentiment of injustice and political targeting.
The submission of this resolution demonstrates PTI’s stance on what it considers unjust treatment of its members and affiliates. It demonstrates the party’s determination to advocate for the rights and liberties of political figures and journalists in the country.
