LAHORE: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has summoned Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Shandana Gulzar for making defamatory remarks about Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, The News reported Sunday.
Gulzar was called by the FIA’s Cyber Crime Circle in Lahore on March 14 for allegedly making derogatory remarks about state and government officials and inciting people to revolt through her social media posts.
The PTI leader is accused of implicating CM Maryam in an audio leak incident by referring to a deceased PTI worker, Zille Shah.
Shoaib Mirza, a Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) activist, accused Gulzar of defamation against government people and institutions.
The FIA recognized these charges and will question Gulzar in order to undertake further investigations into the situation.
Earlier, Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari commented on the subject, stating that every member was responsible for maintaining the dignity of the legislature.
