Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has warned the federal and Punjab administrations to change their ways or he will “send police” to their homes, The News reported on Thursday.

“Stop threatening me, or we will send police to your homes,” Gandapur warned, referring to Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and President Asif Ali Zardari.

The chief minister’s comments came after Anti-Terrorism Court Judge Malik Ijaz Asif issued non-bailable warrants for his suspected role in the May 9 riots on Tuesday.

Apart from CM Gandapur, non-bailable arrest warrants have been issued for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders Murad Saeed, Shibli Faraz, Shahbaz Gill, and retired Lieutenant Colonel Shabbir Awan.

warrants were also issued for former PTI leaders Shireen Mazari and Musarrat.Speaking in Dera Ismail Khan, Gandapur referred to the first information reports (FIRs) against him as “fake” and stated that both the Centre and the Punjab administrations would struggle to function if proper course correction was not implemented.

“We are exercising restraint,” he stated, saying that the federal and Punjab governments were attempting to force the KP administration to engage in confrontation.

He emphasized that the people of KP should not be misconstrued for weak, and cautioned CM Maryam to stop indulging in provocative activities, saying, “It is not our culture to talk ill of women.”

Gandapur’s heated statements came despite a very friendly meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif last week, following which the chief minister highlighted the necessity for political engagement.
