Pakistan’s agricultural economy has been severely impacted by the terrible floods of 2025, which have flooded over 2.2 million acres of Punjabi farmland.
With losses estimated at more than 1 million acres of standing output, the rice crop has been the most severely affected.
Punjab’s rice, corn, cotton, and sugarcane were all severely damaged by the floods, according to provincial officials. Corn and cotton fields were destroyed, while 2.5 million acres of standing sugarcane crops were damaged.
According to sources, the federal government has been made aware of the deteriorating circumstances, and plans to exempt farmers in disaster-affected areas like Hafizabad, Sialkot, Narowal, Gujranwala, Gujarat, and others from paying taxes and irrigation fees are being considered.
