The federal finance minister received a letter from the International Air Transport Association (IATA) voicing the organization’s concerns regarding the proposed tax hike on international airline tickets.
IATA urged the government to reverse the hike in the air travel tax right away.
According to the letter, “the tax on international air travel tickets was suddenly increased to 150 percent by Pakistan’s recent budget.”
“The procedure will decrease tourism and travel to Pakistan.” Before raising the ticket tax, it is required to consult with all relevant parties for several months, the letter continues.
Travel agencies’ business will be negatively impacted by the government of Pakistan’s plan to raise the tax on airline tickets, according to a demand made by IATA.
