Russia Intensifies Attacks on Ukraine Logistics
Russia has stepped up air attacks on Ukrainian logistics facilities in recent weeks. The strikes have targeted warehouses, retailers, postal terminals and other commercial locations.
Ukraine’s Agriculture Minister Taras Vysotskyi said roughly 90% of food logistics operated by retail chains had been destroyed.
Despite the damage, Vysotskyi said Ukraine would not run out of food.
The strikes have already affected some supermarkets in Kyiv. Fresh fruit, vegetables, sugar, dairy products and other food items have occasionally disappeared from shelves.
Russian Strikes Damage Ukrainian Logistics Hubs
Russian attacks have caused damage across several Ukrainian cities and regions.
Ukraine’s Interior Minister Ivan Vyhivskyi said Russian forces had targeted civilian businesses, food warehouses, hypermarkets, postal terminals and book storage facilities.
In the Kyiv region, drone attacks damaged more than a dozen warehouse buildings on Friday. Officials reported one death.
Nova Poshta, one of Ukraine’s major private courier companies, said Russian strikes destroyed sorting centers near Kyiv and in Sumy.
A Russian drone also struck the Epicenter home improvement store in Zaporizhzhia. Local officials said at least four people suffered injuries.
A major Ukrainian book retailer also reported the destruction of a warehouse in the Kyiv region. The facility shipped thousands of books each day.
War Intensifies Pressure on Ukrainian Logistics
Russia’s attacks have increasingly focused on Ukraine’s infrastructure and economic activity as the war continues.
Logistics facilities play an important role in keeping food and other products moving from warehouses to stores.
