In the continuing Toshakhana case against him, Senate Chairman Yousuf Raza Gilani has formally contested the authority of the accountability court and the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
Nawaz Sharif, the former prime minister, and President Asif Ali Zardari are also parties to this dispute.
Gilani’s attorney contended during the accountability court hearing that the accountability court’s and NAB’s jurisdiction over this case has essentially ended with the restoration of some amendments.
The question of whether the Toshakhana case is still within the jurisdiction of the NAB has been raised by this challenge.
Judge Abid Sajjad is presiding over the court, and it has sent a notice to NAB asking it to explain whether the Toshakhana matter is still under its purview. The hearing has been postponed by the court until September 26.
