Shabnim Ismail of South Africa, the only Muslim woman to play international cricket for her country, has made history by bowling the quickest ball.
Shabnim became the first female bowler to achieve this achievement, bowling 130 kilometers per hour.
In a Women’s Premier League match between the Mumbai Indians and the Delhi Capitals, she set the record. The league’s second season is now being played in Bengaluru and Delhi, India.
The South African player plays for the Mumbai Indians. Shabnam bowled the second ball of the third over at 132.1 km/h at the Arun Jaitley Cricket Stadium in Delhi.
She bowled against Australian captain Meg Lanning, and the ball hit her pads.
This is not Shabnim’s first accomplishment; she previously held this record as well. She bowled at 128 km per hour against the West Indies in 2016.
She also bowled at 127 km per hour twice at the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) Women’s World Cup.
