Many continue to wonder how much two-way baseball player Ippei Mizuhara knew about his gambling controversy prior to it all coming to light. Mizuhara is the former interpreter of Los Angeles Dodgers great Shohei Ohtani and is currently handling the legal issues around it.
At a press conference conducted prior to the start of the 2024 regular season, Ohtani declared that he had “never” placed a sports wager and called Mizuhara’s assertion that he was willingly paying off his enormous debt from gambling to be a “complete lie.” No questions were allowed during the event.
Tim Donaghy, the infamous former NBA referee who served a prison sentence after confessing to betting on games he officiated in numerous seasons throughout the early 2000s, isn’t believing that Ohtani was unaware of Mizuhara’s gambling habit.
