The Automated Fare Collection System (AFCS), which was introduced by the Sindh government on Saturday, will allow passengers on the Peoples Bus Service to pay for their bus fare with a smart card.
Speaking at the opening event in Karachi, Sindh Minister for Mass Transit and Transport Sharjeel Inam Memon stated that the state government’s main goal was to provide as many facilities as possible for the populace using contemporary technology.
He informed them that the card may be used on Route 1 and 9 buses at first. According to him, the automated method will increase the fare collection system’s transparency.
Claiming pride in the Pink Buses, Memon claimed that only a few nations worldwide offered bus services exclusively for women.
He stated that even though the cost of gasoline and diesel has gone up over the last two to three years, the Sindh government has chosen to keep the charge at Rs50 per person for trips up to 35 to 40 kilometers.
The provincial minister claimed that while the caretaker government was in office, the Red Line BRT project was put on hold. According to him, the government was also working on the orange and yellow lines.
