Oscar winning director Steven Spielberg and his wife Kate Capshaw have donated 25,000 dollars to a GoFundMe campaign created for the family of late actor James Van Der Beek.
The fundraiser, set up after the actor’s death at age 48, has now crossed its 2 million dollar goal. Van Der Beek is survived by his wife Kimberly and their six children.
Hollywood Figures Step Forward
Several well known names in the film industry have also supported the campaign.
Oscar winner Zoe Saldana pledged 2,500 dollars per month, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Director Jon M. Chu, known for helming Wicked: For Good, contributed 10,000 dollars.
Friends of the Van Der Beek family organized the fundraiser. In a public statement, they thanked supporters and said they were deeply grateful for the love shown to James and his family.
