ISLAMABAD: Senior media representatives referred to the Thursday afternoon police raid on the National Press Club (NPC) during an Awami Action Committee demonstration as one of the “worst incidents in history” since it resulted in journalists being attacked and property being damaged.
The National Press Club was to host the demonstration at approximately 3 p.m. Police apprehended protesters who had gathered outside.
At least nine individuals, including three police officers, were killed during violent rallies organized by the Awami Action Committee in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).
A day earlier, amid sporadic clashes between activists and law enforcement in the state capital, Muzaffarabad, the region is experiencing a massive shutdown and wheeljam strike for the second day in a row.
