The nation’s trade deficit increased by $2.32 billion during the first quarter of the fiscal year, according to a report released Thursday by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).
In the first quarter of the current fiscal year (July–September), Pakistan’s trade deficit increased by 33% to $9.36 billion from $7 billion in the same time the previous year.
While imports increased 14.39 percent to $16.97 billion, exports decreased 3.83 percent to $7.6 billion.
Exports reached $2.5 billion in September 2025, up 3.64 percent from $2.41 billion in August 2025. However, since the prior year’s amount exceeded $2.83 billion, exports fell 11.71 percent from September 2024.
