When Apple CEO Tim Cook announced the iPhone Air on Tuesday, the company’s slimmest device to date and the largest shift in eight years to a portfolio that analysts and customers viewed as stagnate, he appeared to be channeling predecessor and design whiz Steve Jobs.
At its headquarters in Cupertino, California, Cook began the company’s yearly product introduction event with a remark from Jobs: “For us, design extends beyond just how something looks or feels. Additionally, design is how it functions.
The iPhone Air boasts “all-day battery life” thanks to its 5.6-mm (0.22-inch) thin frame, which is thinner than Samsung Electronics’ S25 Edge at 5.8 mm. The device’s electronics has been reduced to the size of a few postage stamps.
