At approximately 10.20 p.m. on Monday, the gray Ford Ka went off the highway close to Crawfordwalls Bridge and ended up half buried in the water while traveling west on the A721 towards Carluke, South Lanarkshire.
After emergency personnel arrived, a male teenager, 17, was taken to Edinburgh’s Royal Infirmary, where doctors have described his condition as serious but stable.
Two guys, ages 18 and 19, were brought to University Hospital Wishaw, while a 19-year-old man was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow.
Police Scotland is requesting that anyone with knowledge come forward, and the road has been stopped to facilitate investigation work.
“An investigation is underway as we aim to establish the full circumstances of what happened,” Sergeant Jack Swindells stated.
“Any drivers who may have spotted the Ford Ka before it left the road and were on the A721 Kilncadzow/Carnwath Road are kindly asked to get in touch.
“I’d also ask anyone with dashcam equipment to check their footage as there may be images of the vehicle which could assist our inquiries.”
