Following the Los Angeles Lakers’ 23 free throws in the fourth quarter of their 132-131 victory over the Raptors on Tuesday, CBS News reported that Toronto coach Darko Rajakovic criticized the refereeing.
After Anthony Davis of the Lakers scored twenty of his forty-one points in the fourth quarter and shot eleven of eleven from the free throw line in the last frame, Rajakovic criticized the game’s free throw disparity.
Of the 36 free throws the Lakers made during the game, Davis made 14 of them, while the entire Toronto team only made 13.
The first-year Serbian head coach of Toronto remarked that the amount of free throws awarded to the Lakers was “outrageous” and a “shame for the league” during his rant, which included banging on tables.
“They get 23 free throws, and we get two free,” he declared.
For example, how do I play the game? We have star players on our squad as well, so I get the respect for All-Stars and everything.”
Against the Raptors, who were without injured center Jakob Poeltl, Davis finished 13 for 17 with 11 rebounds. In the last 1:01, Davis scored 10 points, which included eight free throws and a crucial Barnes block.
Rajakovic believed referees failed to give his squad a fair shot.
“Tonight, they came to win? Please inform us if that is the case so that we can avoid attending the game “Rajakovic remarked. “Just give it to them. However, that was unfair tonight.”
The National Basketball Association (NBA) will probably penalize Rajakovic a lot for his outburst, but his players seemed to understand.
