When Bajaur, North Waziristan, and Abbottabad experienced mild-to-moderate earthquake vibrations in the early hours of Friday, the sleeping locals became alarmed and hurried from their houses.
In less than 12 hours, northern Pakistan has experienced two earthquakes.
A 5.9-magnitude earthquake rocked Rawalpindi, Islamabad, and sections of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Thursday evening, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department’s (PMD) National Seismic and Tsunami Monitoring Centre.
The epicentre of the earthquake, according to the seismological center, was 111 kilometers deep in the Hindu Kush region of Afghanistan.
