On Wednesday, US President Donald Trump stated that the US’s involvement in Japan’s defeat should have been emphasized at China’s “beautiful ceremony” commemorating the conclusion of World War II.
“I felt the ceremony was lovely. Hours after he implied on social media that international leaders gathering in Beijing might be plotting against the United States, Trump told reporters in the Oval Office, “I thought it was very, very impressive.”
“Last night, I watched the speech. Although I am friends with President Xi, I felt that the United States needed to have been brought up in his speech last night because we have greatly aided China.
A request for comment was not immediately answered by the Chinese embassy in Washington.
