As the US president’s historic second state visit got underway under strict security on Wednesday, Britain gave Donald Trump a lavish ceremonial greeting that included a gun salute and mounted horses.
Shortly after the Marine One chopper landed at Windsor Castle at 12:15 p.m. (1115 GMT), Trump and First Lady Melania Trump were greeted enthusiastically by heir apparent Prince William and his wife Catherine.
As the UK’s major charm push began, William and Catherine escorted Trump and his wife a short distance to see King Charles III and Queen Camilla, hidden from the clamorous demonstrators inside a ring of steel.
