Days after US President Donald Trump urged women to “fight like hell” to avoid taking Tylenol during pregnancy, doctors are already being asked by anxious mothers if doing so could cause autism in their unborn children.
Despite the lack of scientific evidence, Trump warned women about the autism link during a White House news conference on Monday. He also stated that his administration will add warnings to drug labels to highlight the risk.
The day following the press conference, Jacksonville pediatrician Dr. Rana Alissa, president of the Florida Chapter of the American Academy of Paediatrics, was covering a shift with an obstetrician-gynecologist at her hospital’s newborn nursery.
