The use of artificial intelligence to portray prominent persons or national symbols without prior authorization has been outlawed by the UAE Media Council.
The goal of the rule is to prevent false information, defamation, and abuse of AI that can undermine public confidence and societal values.
The Council cautioned that it is a media infraction to use generative AI or related technologies to disseminate false information, encourage hate speech, or diminish people’s dignity.
The Media Violations Regulation stipulates that such violations are punishable by fines and administrative proceedings.
When utilizing AI technologies, media companies, social media users, and content producers are advised to follow the law and maintain professional and ethical standards.
