On Thursday night, the final episode of Young Sheldon concluded with Iain Armitage’s character, Sheldon Cooper, beginning a new chapter in Caltech and declaring, “I am exactly where I need to be.”
Before takeoff, though, viewers are shown Sheldon coping with his father George Cooper’s (Lance Barber) death in his own unique way and seeing visions of reliving his final moments with him.
Showrunner Steve Holland told Entertainment Weekly, “We still had to give him some room to grow to get to the end of Big Bang, 12 seasons later, where he gets to stand up at the Nobel Prize ceremony and give an emotional speech thanking his friends.”
