Since more than 20 years of this policy have not fully aligned New Delhi with Washington’s aims or protected US interests, the United States’ long-standing strategy of favoring India over Pakistan has not succeeded in achieving Washington’s regional goals.
The “United States bet on India, but that bet has not paid off,” according to an article in the American journal Foreign Affairs, warns that India is still unable and reluctant to align itself with US interests in the area.
It further stated that New Delhi has consistently failed to live up to American expectations, particularly by remaining neutral regarding Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022.
