As Pakistan elected Shehbaz Sharif as its 24th prime minister, global leaders congratulated and wished the freshly sworn-in premier, who took over the country’s leadership for the second time in a row.
Shehbaz took an oath on Monday, a day after being elected prime minister, maintaining the title during a 16-month tenure from April 2022 to August 2023.
Various foreign leaders congratulated the newly elected premier on his assumption of the country’s chief executive position and wished him success throughout the next five years in office.
According to state-run Radio Pakistan, Saudi Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman thanked Shehbaz following his oath-taking ceremony.
The crown prince wished the new Prime Minister success and the people of Pakistan continued progress and prosperity.
Donald Blome, the US Ambassador to Pakistan, also congratulated PM Shehbaz on his new position.
Blome stated in a statement on social networking site X, formerly Twitter, that his country is looking forward to working closely with Pakistan’s new administration and people on mutual interests.
Lord David Cameron, the Foreign Secretary of the United Kingdom, expressed interest in working with Prime Minister Shehbaz and his administration.
