LAHORE/ISLAMABAD: Senior Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) officials have spoken out against establishing a government at the Centre, claiming that the party has “no desire to decorate this crown of thorns on its head,” The News reported on Saturday.
Speaking to X, Khawaja Saad Rafique stated that the establishment of the federal government was the joint responsibility of all parties in parliament, not just the PML-N.
Rafique added, “Independent members supported by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) should take the initiative, form a joint central government with the PPP.”
He stated that no political party had a clear majority and that the “PML-N has no desire to decorate this crown of thorns on its head”.

The meeting attendees advised to Nawaz, “We should not take the federal government.” In Punjab, a government can be readily created by combining independents.”
